Introduction
Pupils at MA Institute are taught with commitment and enthusiasm. The professional expertise demonstrated by the staff combined with our personalised tutorial system ensures a high academic standard.
We recognise the need to address the career aspirations of pupils and so we have an excellent record of academic achievement at KS3 and KS4. We aim to achieve an all round education whilst providing the opportunity for personal development and life skills.
Curriculum from age 11 to GCSE
We aim to establish good habits of work and to enable pupils to study the widest range of subjects. In this way they discover their interests and talents. Subjects are taught in special classrooms in order to give all pupils the advantage of the established facilities such as science laboratory and computers suite.
Pupils are taught in mixed sets , however their individual needs are taken into account.
Homework is set at all levels increasing in length as a pupil moves up the school.
The core GCSE curriculum consists of English language, English Literature, Mathematics, the three sciences offered leading to double science award and a Modern Language (Arabic and Urdu. French may be offered in the near future). PE and Games are also part of the curriculum for all pupils. In addition, pupils may opt for three of: History, modern languages, Religious Studies, Music (Nasheed, Art , ICT, PE). Almost all pupils take 8 GCSEs.
Class sizes are usually in the low twenties, although in some subjects they will be much smaller.
